A man died while swimming in a lake in the Halifax area, police said

Police are investigating the death of a 31-year-old man who they say died while swimming at Three Mile Lake in Windsor Junction, NS, on Saturday night.

Ambulance crews responded to the call about 21 hours after the drowning, the RCMP said in a press release on Sunday.

“The man was found in the water at 1:48 a.m. today by a ground search and rescue of Halifax, using sonar for a side scan, and was pronounced dead at the scene,” the statement said.

RCMP sergeant spokesman. Andrew Joyce said the man was not alone on the lake, adding that the man who informed police was with the man when he entered the water.

Police found out at the scene that the man had entered the water to retrieve an object, Joyce said.
