A man dies in a crash near Rollerword in Derby while flowers are placed at the scene

Flower gifts were left this morning after a fatal accident in front of Rollerworld on Mansfield Road in Derby on Saturday night (June 18th). Derbyshire police have confirmed that a 42-year-old man has been pronounced dead at the scene.

Several police cars and an air ambulance were spotted on the road near Chester Green, which was closed for several hours. Police said two other people were injured in the van Vauxhall Combo incident.

A 62-year-old man remains in serious condition in hospital and a 34-year-old woman has minor injuries.

A 40-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remains in custody. Police said the 40-year-old man was driving the van while the three injured were passengers.

A Derby County football jersey is nailed to the fence in front of Derby Gaskets Ltd on Mansfield Road, along with a few bouquets of flowers. The shirt appeared to have a nickname written on it, along with the letters “CLF”, with a black marker.

As of this morning (June 19), Mansfield Road is open normally with few traces of the events of the previous evening. The road leads directly to the Meteor Center, one of the busiest shopping parks in Derby.

Signals to close the road came shortly after 9pm on Saturday. Photos and video from the scene show several police cars present, as well as an air ambulance.

Police confirmed at 4.51 today that the road is fully open and are now appealing for information about the incident. Anyone who has seen the incident or has a camera recording is urged to contact the Serious Clashes Investigation Department on 0300 122 8147, citing reference number 22 * ​​350342.
