A man died after injuries at a construction site at a Shetland wind farm.
The 23-year-old was served by emergency services after the incident at the site run by SSE Renewables in the Upper Kergord area on Sunday morning.
Ambulances and police arrived around 10:15 a.m., but the man, a BAM Nuttall contractor, was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.
The Health and Safety Executive will be informed once an initial investigation has been carried out.
A spokesman for the Scottish Police said: “Investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and the Executive Director of Health and Safety will be informed in due course.
SSE is currently building the 450-megawatt Viking Energy wind farm to connect to the HVDC transmission link between Shetland and the mainland.
Derek Hastings, the project’s onshore project manager, said: “We are overwhelmed by today’s news and our thoughts and condolences are with the family, friends and colleagues of the tragically killed young man.
“We are working closely with BAM Nuttall and the relevant authorities to find out what happened.
