A man allegedly caused a riot in the center before being accused of stealing from Atherley Road business, Orillia told OPP
An Orylia man was in charge of local OPP staff on Friday.
Police say they were sent on a report of a man who caused a riot in a business in downtown Orilia around 5:15 p.m. on June 24.
When the officers arrived, the man had already left the scene. A little later, Orillia OPP employees were called to a business on Atherley Road, where the same man stole items before fleeing in a vehicle.
Officers found the man a short distance away and arrested the man, who was later transported to the Orylia Squad for further investigation.
As a result, 33-year-old Stephen Causton from Orilia was charged with theft of less than $ 5,000, difficulty driving, impaired blood alcohol concentration (BAC) above .80 and a novice driver with a BAC above zero.
Causton was released on bail and will answer his charges in the Ontario Court in Oryol on August 9.
His car was confiscated for seven days and he faces a 90-day revocation of his driver’s license.
