A man was arrested after two attempted robberies within a week.
Merseyside police confirmed that on Wednesday, June 1, a 36-year-old Butle man was arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery. He was arrested in connection with an attempted robbery at Halifax Bank in the Bootle Strand shopping center on Monday, May 30, and an attempted robbery at a post office in Park Lane in Netherton, earlier today.
He has also been arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm and is currently in custody, where he will be questioned by detectives.

Emergency services arrived at Bootle Strand on Monday after reports of an attempted robbery at the bank. No casualties were reported, but bank staff and customers remained “extremely shaken” by the incident.
Following the incident, the center’s management posted a statement on the mall’s website and Facebook page confirming that the bank’s store would be closed “until further notice”.
A police cordon was spotted around the Lane Park Post Office in Nederton on Wednesday afternoon after another attempted robbery. Roads were closed at Park Lane around the intersection with Hereford Drive as drivers were urged to look for alternative routes.
