A man has died and another is in custody after he was arrested on suspicion of murder after an attack on a village in South Gloucestershire. Police and ambulance crews were called to an address in the village of Charfield, near Yate, shortly before 11pm last night, Friday, June 25th.
Detectives said the first paramedics found a man on the scene who “unfortunately cannot be saved.” The name of the deceased has not yet been named – police said the man has not yet been officially identified, but his family “knows” and receives support.
Police say another man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody. And they called anyone who had information about what happened in Charfield last night – Friday – including in one of the pubs in the village.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset police said emergency services had been called to an address in the Thames Close. “A man was found wounded and unfortunately could not be saved,” she said. “While the man’s identity has not yet been officially confirmed, his family is aware and supported by specially trained officers. Our thoughts are with them in their loss. A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody,” she added.
Police said people would continue to see a police presence in the area. Thames Close is a small cul-de-sac of just 15 houses and bungalows in the south of Charfield Village, north of Yate and close to Watton Under Edge.
