A man of police identity killed, 7 wounded in a shooting at a prom

Chesterfield County, Virginia – A 20-year-old man was killed and seven others were injured at a Chester prom on Friday night.

Police were called to Stepney Road and Weybridge Road for a report of shots fired shortly after 10:20 p.m. on Friday, June 3rd.

Officials said six people had been shot and two others had received injuries unrelated to guns at the Stepney Road 10960 party.

“The investigation shows that more than 50 shots were fired at the scene,” police said.

When police arrived, they found 20-year-old Tabori J. Carter from block 21100 of Baileys Grove Drive, suffering from a gunshot wound. He died on the spot as a result of injuries, police said.

“Officers provided emergency assistance to Carter, but he died on the spot as a result of his injuries,” police said.

Five other victims of the shooting, who had already gone to district hospitals and other locations before police arrived, appear to be non-life-threatening, according to officials.

Police also said two people were injured when they were hit by a car as they fled the scene.

Police say the investigation into the shooting continues.
