A man armed with a machete provoked a huge armed police reaction in Liverpool.
Merseyside police and an Northwest ambulance rushed to Talton Road, right next to Lawrence Road in Wavertray, around 4:20 p.m. on Thursday, June 2nd. Officers received a call from 999 from someone on the street stating that a man had been seen with a “sharp weapon” on the street and was threatening.
An eyewitness who lives on the road said he saw a “man with a machete”. Moments later, dozens of police vehicles, including patrol cars, matrix vans, police dogs and armed police, arrived on the scene.

A cordon was laid along the entire length of Talton Road. Officers immediately began door-to-door inquiries to find out what had happened and tried to track down the man.
Dozens gathered on Lawrence Road to try to see what was happening. About two hours later, the police cordon was lifted, leaving officers still at the scene.
A Merseyside police spokesman said “there is no wider public concern” after the incident. The investigation into the man’s fine continues and no arrests have been made.
There were no reports of injuries to Merseyside police.
