LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Alberta government has expanded eligibility for cystic fibrosis treatment.
Health Minister Jason Copping says Albertans ages 12 and older can now take Trikafta, but it’s now available for those ages 6 to 11.
“Alberta was among the first provinces and territories to give older children and adults access to Trikafta,” says Copping. “Once again, the Alberta government is leading the way by quickly making this transformative drug available to younger children, giving them the same opportunity to realize an improved quality of life.”
Cystic fibrosis is a genetic disorder that causes mucus to build up in the lungs, digestive tract, and other parts of the body.
