A shooting near a bar in downtown Chattanooga killed three people and injured 14 others.

“This is obviously a tragic event for the families and victims involved,” Chattanooga police chief Celeste Murphy said on Sunday.

Murphy said 14 people were killed by gunfire during the incident, while three others were hit by vehicles. Two people died from gunshot wounds and a third died from injuries sustained when they were hit by a vehicle fleeing the scene, according to a Fox report 13.

Police suspect that many gunmen were involved in the incident near Mary’s Bar and Grill on McCallie Avenue shortly after 2 a.m. Sunday, with several of the victims remaining in critical condition.
