Angela Rayner said Labor could table a vote of no confidence in the House of Commons “as early as next week” if the Tories do not oust Boris Johnson from Number 10 immediately.
Labour’s deputy leader said: “We think Boris Johnson cannot stay a minute in Downing Street. He has been proven unfit to govern and therefore the Conservative Party needs to elect someone to lead their party fairly quickly or get an interim leader who is not someone who has been disgraced who has lost the confidence of their own party , let alone the British public.
“If they don’t, we are very clear that we will table a vote of no confidence before the summer break.” [July 21] to ensure that this exchange happens and that the Conservative Party does the right thing by the British public, which they have not done, frankly, over the last few months.
Pushing when the vote could take place, Ms Rayner told Sky News: “We will speak to the whips and we will do it as soon as possible if it is. [necessary]. We don’t have much time left to rest, to be honest.
“It could be next week at the earliest, yes, because we don’t have much time left until summer vacation.”
