A man was taken to hospital with serious head injuries after a “targeted” machete attack in Lanarkshire.
The 31-year-old man was approached by an armed man on Reiber Avenue, Lanark, around 8.35pm on Thursday.
The attacker seriously injured the victim during the attack, before vandalizing the windows of a house on the same street along with three other men.
The group then fled the scene in a dark car.
The victim was taken by ambulance to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for serious head injuries and his condition was described by hospital staff as “stable”.
Investigators believe the victim was specifically targeted by his attacker, but his motive has not yet been determined.
They are now appealing to witnesses who may have more information.
Detective Sergeant Jim Williamson, Wishow CID, said: “Although the motive for this attack has not yet been determined, we believe that the man, for whatever reason, was specifically targeted.
“At the moment we do not have a description of the suspects.
“Reiber Avenue is residential and I’m sure people would see or at least hear the attack.
