A three-year-old boy has died after police believe he was attacked by a dog in Rochdale. Paramedics rushed to the scene in Carre Lane, Milnerow, shortly after 1pm on Sunday to announce that the young man had been injured.
He was taken by ambulance to a hospital, where he was unfortunately pronounced dead. No arrests have been made at this stage and investigations into the circumstances are ongoing.
Greater Manchester police say a criminal investigation has been launched into the fatal incident. Police were called to the scene by paramedics at 1:15 p.m. Sunday (May 15th)

A huge police presence was filmed at Milnerow’s home on Sunday afternoon, as well as numerous ambulances. An air ambulance arrived at the scene, a local man said MEN that the police had been walking “back and forth all afternoon and evening.”
Police said they suspected the child had died from his injuries after being attacked by the dog in what they described as an “alarming incident” that would “shake up the local community”.
Detective Superintendent Jamie Daniels of GMP’s Department of Public Protection and Serious Crimes said: “This is a tragic, devastating incident and our thoughts are with the family at this terrible time. We are investigating the incident and previous dog incidents at this address.
“While our inquiries to find out what happened will be in-depth and in their infancy, we suspect that this little boy has unfortunately succumbed to injuries sustained as a result of a dog attack.
“I understand that this is an extremely worrying incident for all concerned and this news will shake the local community.
“I can only assure everyone that we will work tirelessly to establish the full circumstances that led to this tragedy, and although we remain open, this is now seen as a criminal investigation.
“There will be a significant police presence in the area – we will be there to investigate and respond to any concerns that residents may have.
