Environment Canada says at least one tornado touched down in Manitoba on Tuesday night as a series of weather warnings and watches passed across the province.
The first tornado watches were issued at 3:35 p.m. for the southern Interlake region, from Selkirk in the south to Kinonjeoshtegon First Nation in the north.
Environment Canada later confirmed the tornado touched down near Netley, Manchester, and was traveling east around 6:39 p.m.
“I expect the worst of this to gradually die down in the late evening as the cold front moves through.” Northwest winds will become very strong behind the front and remain strong into Wednesday morning,” CBC News meteorologist John Sauder reported earlier this evening.
As of 10:30 p.m., all tornado and severe thunderstorm warnings and watches have been canceled for the province.
