On Sunday morning, the Janesville, Wisconsin Fire Department responded to reports of a garage fire at 11:00 am. Firefighters were able to arrive before the fire spread to the home and save the home with minimal damage.

One person was taken to the hospital for treatment of burns to the hands and arms and the cause of the fire was determined to be a resident attempting to drain gas from a vehicle using a wet/dry vacuum.

“There is equipment for sale, like at Advanced Auto places, that will do the draining for you. It was kind of old school, which is no longer recommended today,” said Assistant Albany. Fire Chief Rubin Jordan.

When is in between, it will explode.”
