A 41-year-old woman and three dogs have died in a car crash in west London, metropolitan police said.
The driver of the car, a 26-year-old man, was detained on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and was detained.
Officers were called to the Cheyne Walk in Chelsea at 6.21am on Saturday for signals of a collision involving a pedestrian, animals and an Audi.
The woman was found dead on the spot, and all three dogs also died as a result of injuries, according to police.
The driver was slightly injured.
A cordon at the crime scene is placed on the Cheyne Walk, a mansion-lined road that stretches along the Thames.
A photo on London’s 999 Twitter account shows the crossroads where the Albert Bridge meets Chelsea’s embankment, a detached and blue forensic tent set up on a rubble-strewn road.
Drivers are advised to avoid the area due to closed roads.
Part of the embankment between the Battersea Bridge and the Royal Hospital Road and Albert Bridge have been closed, according to the London Transport website.
The woman’s close relatives have been notified, police said.
