A woman “disgusted” by the message “tits watch” shown at Derry’s concert

One woman said she was shocked to attend a concert in Derry, where she felt “threatened” by a message suggesting that a camera would monitor the women’s breasts.

The company, which provides large screens for concerts, apologized after showing a message at an Electric Rock concert in Ebrington that read: “CCTV boob watch”.

He assumed that a camera would pan the crowd and bring the women’s breasts closer during the show.

The company is called Mobile Trailer Hire and in this case works with Screens Ireland.

Breastfeeding counselor Helen Hancock Glass attends the June 2 event.

Speaking to the Belfast Telegraph, she said: “I think in whatever context this announcement was, it was threatening. This was a threat to me and the others in the crowd.

“Honestly, I can’t say who else saw it, I know that a few people I’ve been with have done it and others haven’t. I think we are still in place at the time, that this is seen as a joke. I do not know how.

“The idea that we are still in this era of Freddie Starr misogynist is disgusting.

“As a breastfeeding counselor, my position is to support women through trauma around their experience, and one area that is so vital to her progress is feeding her baby in a public place.

“It’s just a small area that is moving away from messages like this sent to a large crowd.

“The breasts are yours to look at!” Breasts are sexualized! Women don’t matter! ”

She added: “That was the message for me, and I have no doubt that other women at the event felt the same way, and those who may not have, may have become so used to the language that it has become normal.

“It simply came to our notice then. “I want to go to a concert after many difficult years and feel comfortable and calm – without threat,” she said.

Ms. Hancock Glass said she turned to prevent the camera from focusing on her or her friend.

“It simply came to our notice then. I wanted to leave, but I knew it was not fair to the artists who traveled to perform, and I went out at night with the full intention of enjoying myself. ”

Conor Moran of Mobile Trailer Hire, a company that worked with Screens Ireland, told the BBC: “A manager heard about it at night and the person in charge – who was used by a subcontractor – was fired.

“It will not be used again.

“At this point, I don’t know if the camera really brought anyone closer to the chest. We apologize if a woman has felt that their personal life and space have invaded.

“We will investigate and report to the relevant authorities.”

Concert organizer Robert Allen of the Connected Festival said he would not use the company on the big screen again.

“When we found out about the issue, we immediately referred it to the responsible company,” said Mr. Allen.

“They informed us that they are reporting the responsible person to the relevant authorities and as the organizer of the event we will not use their service again.”
