A woman was rescued from the Severn River in the early hours

The rescue of a woman from the Severn River in the early hours of this morning required a major emergency response.

West Mercia police, the West Midlands ambulance and the Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service were present at the Worcester scene around 3:30 a.m. Saturday.

A HWFRS spokesman confirmed that Worcester and Evesham boats, a Malvern water first aid team and a Worcester fire engine were needed.

A drone from the Ledbury Fire Department and a search and rescue dog were also brought to the scene.

One woman was rescued from the river and left in the care of an ambulance.
