A young woman died and two men were seriously injured in an A6 crash

A woman was killed and two men were seriously injured in a crash of two A6 cars between Derby and Duffield. Shirley Murden, 31, of Belper, was fatally injured in the Burley Hill collision and has now been officially identified.

Emergency services were called to the scene shortly after 11.20pm on Friday, June 3rd. Ms. Murden was taken to hospital but died the following day, Saturday, June 4. Her family has already been informed, according to Derbyshire police.

Two men were also taken to hospital as they were seriously injured in the collision. Both have already been discharged and continue to recover at home. None of them have been identified by Derbyshire police.

A Derbyshire police spokesman said: “Shirley’s family is receiving support from experts and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.

“We would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time who may have witnessed the collision or had a recording from a control camera or video surveillance. If anyone has information that could help with our inquiries, please contact us at the following non-emergency details, citing reference number 22000318288. ”

Following the crash, A6 Duffield Road was closed in both directions from its intersection with Burley Lane, Quorndon, to Ford Lane, Alestri, from 11.20pm on Friday, June 3. It reopened around 6 a.m. Saturday, June 4.
