Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey has authorized the payment of a $ 5,000 reward to at least one person involved in helping authorities capture former fugitive and murder suspect Casey White, who escaped from a prison in Florence last month with the help of a senior correctional officer.
“Thanks to good information from this citizen and the hard work of law enforcement in Alabama all the way to Indiana, we were able to put the bad guy behind bars where he belongs,” Ivy said in a statement. “I look forward to justice.”
The payment came after the governor received information about “valuable law enforcement assistance” from Lauderdale County Attorney Chris Connolly, whose office is investigating the case.
“Governor Ivy’s office contacted me for a recommendation on the award,” Connelly told Fox News Digital on Thursday. “After receiving information from investigators directly involved in the investigation that led to the capture of Casey White, I made a recommendation to the governor.

While the recipient asked to remain anonymous, the prosecutor said he appreciated the governor’s gesture. It was not immediately clear whether additional advisers would receive portions of the $ 25,000 offered by various entities, including the governor’s office and U.S. marshals.
White spent 11 days on the run after escaping from the Lauderdale County Detention Center in Florence, Alabama, with the help of former Assistant Director of Prison Correctors Vicki White, according to Sheriff Rick Singleton.
The two were not related, but had a alleged relationship in prison, investigators said. The video from the observation shows the couple coming out of the prison door and boarding their marked cruiser, which was later spotted passing a nearby gas station and found abandoned in a city sporting goods store.

CAPTIVE ALABAMA ESCAPE CASE WHITE: SON OF MURDER VICTIM REQUESTS RESPONSES FROM STATE POLICE
Vicki White recently sold her house, and the day of the escape was also the day of her retirement, according to authorities. They left with tens of thousands of dollars in cash, as well as many firearms.
After using multiple cars to escape an interstate search that ended in a police chase led by U.S. marshals in Indiana, Vicki White shot herself in the head instead of surrendering, authorities said. They returned Casey White to custody at the scene.

Casey White is due to return to court later this month on charges of absconding, according to his new defense team, which family members retained last week.
He is also facing a pending murder trial in the 2015 murder of Connie Ridgeway, a 58-year-old woman whom authorities say he has admitted to killing at her home in a conspiracy to kill for rent. He later pleaded not guilty to insanity.
