Alchester Road South closed for hours after a serious mobility scooter crash

A busy city street was closed for several hours this afternoon, Thursday, June 16, after a mobile scooter crash. Alchester Road South in Kings Heath was closed from Wheelers Lane to Taylor Road.

Details of the collision were not known, but it happened near the intersection with Livingston Road, Brandwood, shortly after 14:30. Traffic was diverted and the National Express West Midlands bus route №50 was also affected.

Drivers are told to expect delays and use alternative routes.

A West Midlands police spokesman said: “We have been called in for a serious collision involving a car and a scooter for mobility on Alchester Road South, near the intersection with Livingston Road, Brandwood, shortly after 2.30pm today (June 16th).” there is a closed road. ”

Police are closing down Alchester Road South in Kings Heath.

More details are expected to be announced by the forces tomorrow, Friday.

A witness said: “There was a mobility scooter at the intersection of Alchester Road South and Livingston Road. A blue sheet is placed half on the sidewalk and half on the road.

“There are traffic policemen around. There are shoes next to the sheet. There is a gloomy mood and a lot of police activity.”

At around 7.30 pm, the scene of the incident remained sealed.
