(CNN) – An inexperienced passenger landed a private plane safely at Florida airport on Tuesday afternoon, May 10, when the pilot became incapacitated.
As the situation progresses, the passenger is heard telling the air traffic controller that he does not know how to fly the plane, according to the audio signal LiveATC.net, received from CNN.
“I have a serious situation here,” the unidentified passenger said in the audio recording. “My pilot has become inconsistent and I have no idea how to fly the plane.”
An air traffic controller then began instructing the passenger to land the plane, according to the audio recording, which eventually landed at Palm Beach International Airport in Florida.
“Try to keep your wings level and see if you can start coming down for me. Push the controls forward and descend at a very slow speed, ”the air traffic controller can be heard saying to the man.
“Try to follow the coast to the north or south. We’re trying to find you.”

In an additional audio recorded by LiveATC.net, another air traffic controller can be heard telling other planes what happened.
“You’ve just witnessed two passengers land on this plane,” the tower operator could be heard saying to an American Airlines pilot waiting to fly to Charlotte, North Carolina.
“You said the passengers landed the plane?” The American Airlines pilot asked. “Oh my God. Great job, “he said.
Two people were on board the single-engine Cessna 208 when the pilot had a “possible medical problem”, according to a statement from the Federal Aviation Administration. The condition of the pilot is not known immediately.
The FAA is investigating.
