Police are looking for a man suspected of fatally shooting a Safeway store employee early Sunday after a dispute in the Willow Glen neighborhood of San Jose.
The signal for the shooting was given around 3:35 in the morning and upon the arrival of the police they found a man with at least one gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police did not say whether the shooting took place inside or outside the Safeway store, located at 1530 Hamilton Ave.
The officer and another man were at loggerheads just before the shooting, according to San Jose police.
“The motive and circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation,” San Jose police officer Steve Aponte said in a press release Sunday afternoon.
The unidentified suspect remains at large, police said.
The name of the victim is not reported. Death is the 14th San Jose homicide this year.
