An Indiana man accused of killing his cancer-winning wife won municipal council primary elections while in prison for the brutal murder.
Andrew Wilhoit – who was accused in March of killing 41-year-old Elizabeth “Nicky” Wilhoit for allegedly using a concrete pot – is one of three Republicans to secure a seat in Tuesday’s November municipal council election. Clinton, Indianapolis Star reported.

Anyone facing charges of a felony can still run for local office, but it becomes inadmissible after a conviction, state election officials told the newspaper.
“According to our legal system, everyone is innocent until proven guilty,” said Brad King, co-director of the Indiana Electoral Department. “If a candidate is eventually convicted, then, depending on the time of conviction, the person can be replaced on the ballot by a political party that has a vacancy.
But King noted that there is no law prohibiting anyone who is in prison before the trial from “exercising his or her duties” if elected.

Court documents obtained by WTHR show that investigators found traces of blood in the couple’s home after Nicki Wilhoit did not show up for work in the office of an oral surgeon in Zionsville.
Andrew Wilhoit told cops that his wife had filed for divorce and that they had quarreled over his extramarital affair, claiming he had slept on the couch and had not seen her when he left for work, WTHR reported.
But Wilhoit later changed his version of events, eventually admitting to cops that he hit his wife on the head with a flower pot and then drove her body in his pickup truck to the Boone County Bridge, where he dumped him. , court documents show.
