Angels, sailors punished for an accident with clearing benches

A combined 12 members of the Los Angeles Angels and Seattle Mariners received discipline, including undisclosed fines, for their role in the clearing of the bench, which occurred at the start of the second inning of Sunday’s Angel Stadium match. Michael Hill, senior vice president of operations for Major League Baseball, made the announcement. The course is as follows:

Unless appealed, the penalties of all players came into force on Monday night, when both clubs had to play (BAL @ SEA and CWS @ LAA). If a player chooses to appeal, then his discipline will be maintained until the process is complete.

Nevin, Chiti and Del Campo will begin service tonight. Montgomery and Hazelman will serve when Chiti returns from punishment.
