Apple introduces an updated 13-inch MacBook Pro with M2 chip

Apple not only introduced a new MacBook Air at WWDC – it also introduced a major overhaul of the 13-inch MacBook Pro. The new “entry-level” professional laptop surprisingly uses the M2 chip, which promises improved performance and efficiency, including 20 hours of peak battery life (during video playback) and accelerated ProRes video processing. The new model is not a major redesign like its Air counterpart and retains the Touch Bar.

You can also expect microphones with “studio quality”, up to 24 GB of RAM and a maximum of 2TB of storage. As with its predecessor M1, this is not a workstation without restrictions. You’ll need to purchase a higher-end MacBook Pro if you need a lot of memory or device capacity.

The MacBook Pro M2 will start at $ 1,299 ($ 1,199 for education) when it arrives in July. Then the position of this system in the composition has not changed. This is the portable Mac for users who want active cooling for heavy loads, but do not need the extra power of first-class machines such as 14- and 16-inch Pro models. That said, the 13-inch machine is harder to sell when the new Air offers similar performance, a larger screen and a MagSafe power connection for less money.
