Apple is already working on an iMac that includes Apple’s “M3” silicon chip, along with developing at least nine new Macs that include Apple’s next-generation silicon, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.
In the latest issue of his Power On newsletter, Gourmet said work on the “iMac” with the M3 chip is already underway, but specific details about the “iMac”, including whether it will be a continuation of the updated 24-inch model or larger model are not disclosed. Gourmet added that the “iMac” Pro is also in the works, but that it will not launch “soon”.
Since then, I’ve heard that M2 chips aren’t the only ones being tested at Apple. And if you’re waiting for a new iMac, I hear that the M3 version of this desktop is already in the works – although I imagine it won’t be released until the end of next year. Last week, Bloomberg reported that Apple was working hard on a number of new Macs to be released for the rest of this year and early 2023. The new Macs include an updated 13-inch entry-level MacBook Pro with the M2 chip. completely redesigned MacBook Air and updated 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro with M2 Pro and M2 Max chips.
Apple is rumored to unveil its M2 chip later this year, the company’s first significant addition to Apple’s Mac Silicon family since the original M1 chip was released in November 2020.
According to rumors, the base chip “M2”, which is expected to power the 13-inch MacBook Pro and “MacBook Air”, includes the same 8-core processor as “M1”, but with improvements in speed and efficiency. As for the GPU, M2 will consist of 9 and 10-core GPU options, compared to the 7 and 8-core GPU options in the original M1 chip.
