Last month, during the WWDC (World Wide Developers Conference) 2022 event, Apple gave a sneak peek at the new software — iOS 16, watchOS 9, macOS Ventura and iPadOS 16 for iPhone, watches, Mac and iPad coming later this year year.
Soon after the announcement, the company offered a preview to registered developers, and now Apple is offering access to beta versions of iOS 16, watchOS 9, macOS Ventura, and iPadOS 16 to the public.
It should be noted that beta software is not a final version and will contain bugs. To be on the safe side, install the beta software on a secondary drive.
Apple iOS 16 and iPadOS 16 share most features. Some new things include a revamped lock screen with customization options and lots of colorful wallpapers. Clearing the notification stack on the lock screen, Live activities with real-time details on the lock screen, deeper focus integration with the lock screen, shared iCloud photo library, Live Text on video, visual search and edit or delete of texts in messages.

Additionally, with iPadOS 16, Apple introduces Stage Manager. With this, users can multitask and get things done with ease. Resize the windows to look the way they want. And for the first time on iPad, users will be able to see and manage multiple overlapping windows in a single view. With this, users can seamlessly switch between apps easier than ever.

The new iPadOS 16 brings Free Form. With this, users can organize group video conferences and project meetings with a presentation sharing feature. Here, all invitees can brainstorm ideas with colleagues, share a link, and start working together immediately. As others add their thoughts, users can see changes to the canvas in real time.

Apple watchOS 9 After installing watchOS 9, users will begin to see new metrics by simply rotating the Digital Crown to view such as activity rings, heart rate zones, power and altitude. With heart rate zones, users can gauge what intensity the body and heart went to during a certain activity such as running. Also measure your lap times and recovery period right during your workouts.

Another notable aspect of the new software coming to Apple devices is the lock mode.
This will be an optional feature. It can be turned on and off by the user. If an individual is a High Value Target (HVT), he/she can enable it on his/her device and once enabled, it will strengthen the device’s security and severely restrict certain functionalities of messaging apps, web browsing and cable connections (for data transfer) etc.
