Arrest in connection with the death of Trina Hunt in 2021

A man has been arrested in front of a home in Port Moody, British Columbia, in connection with the death of Trina Hunt in 2021, the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team confirmed on Friday.

Hunt, 48, was reported missing from her home in the Heritage Mountain neighborhood by her husband on January 18, 2021.

Her disappearance sparked a long-term search involving hundreds of people, coordinated through social media.

Her remains were found in an area south of Silver Creek in Hope, British Columbia, just over two months later. Subsequently, IHIT took over the case.

Last June, Hunt’s family offered $ 50,000 to anyone who could provide information to the RCMP, according to the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT).

IHIT said on Friday it would not release any names as no charges have been filed. IHIT said more details would be provided on Saturday or later in the weekend.

Hunt’s cousin, Stephanie Ibot, told the CBC that Hunt’s family has not yet received much information about the arrest.
