Arrests after protesters try to enter Queen’s anniversary parade before Trooping the Color

Several arrests were made after a group tried to enter the ceremonial route of The Mall before Trooping the Color today, Sofia police said.

Several people were pulled by police from the path of a military band as they marched on the area near Buckingham Palace around 10:10 a.m. Thursday.

The footage shows police detaining a small group of people as the group entered the parade aisle.

The pro-vegan climate and animal rights campaign Animal Rebellion is campaigning against the dairy industry, protest organizers said.

The group said 25 of its supporters were involved in the break “due to the Crown’s inaction on the climate emergency and their continued support for meat, fisheries and dairy products, a leading factor in climate devastation”.

Some protesters managed to sit in the road before being pulled out by officers.

One of those sitting wore a gold crown around his hat, and the other sat facing the soldiers, holding a sheet of paper.

Another man was walking in front of the group, holding a small poster reading “Reclaim Royal Land” above their heads.

Officers were filmed fighting protesters who diverted to the mall as the parade viewers watched.

Despite the riots, the group continued and continued with the parade.

Animal Rebellion describes itself as a mass volunteer movement “using nonviolent civil disobedience to help transition to a plant-based food system” and says it works in solidarity with climate activists, Extinction Rebellion.

The protest materials of the group demand the closure of the dairy industry, saying they are seeking justice for animals and action in connection with the climate emergency.

Bo King Houston, one of the entrepreneurs, said: “The royal family has had decades to pave the way for a fair transition to crop production and has failed to do so. This transition is common sense and simple, we all win.

“76% of the land currently cultivated can be rebuilt and absorb carbon from the atmosphere. This will restore nature, save billions of animals and present a solution to the climate emergency, all in one go.

In August 2021, Animal Rebellion painted the fountain in front of Buckingham Palace red in protest of the use of the Crown lands for hunting and animal husbandry.

A spokesman for the group, Robert Gordon, said: “These anniversary celebrations will cost taxpayers tens if not hundreds of millions of pounds. As we struggle with the cost of living crisis, families across the country are increasingly relying on food banks.

“Instead, this indecent amount of money could have been used to ensure immediate food security and to start a plant future in which no child is left hungry or terrified of a climate collapse. That’s why we need to get the royal land back. “

Matt wrote on Twitter: “A number of arrests have been made of people who tried to enter the ceremonial route at The Mall around 10.10 today.

“The arrests are related to public order for obstructing the highway.

“I thank the audience for their support by applauding our officers, who returned to their posts after dealing with the incident quickly.
