Dallas police say the investigation into a shooting that injured three people at a hair salon in Northwest Dallas on Wednesday may be related to other shootings targeting local Asian companies.
Dallas Police Chief Eddie Garcia said on Friday afternoon that the shooter in the shooting may have targeted Asian companies in Dallas at least two more times.
“Due to the ongoing investigation, the consistent review of crime reports made by our crime analysis unit, our team was able to review the data and conclude that three recent shootings of Asian-run businesses may be related,” Garcia said.
Garcia said someone passed the 2208 Royal Lane mall around 11:13 a.m. on April 2 and shot at three businesses that were Asian-owned. More than a month later, on May 10, someone passed other Asian companies on 4849 Sunnyvale Street and shot at buildings. Three people were in the back of the business and were not injured.
In both cases, the shots were reported to have come from a dark, maroon or red minivan. None of the first two cases were injured.
On Wednesday, May 11, three people were injured in a shooting at a hair salon owned by Royal Lane Asians when a man got off a dark or brown minivan, entered the salon and started firing.
Garcia said the department is working with the FBI, the North Texas Counterterrorism Task Force and other agencies to investigate the shootings, as well as in talks with neighboring communities to see if there are similar reports.
The chief added that the department is asking every Dallas resident to keep an eye on and protect our city – there is no place for hatred here – and to help us identify all possible suspects. If you see something, say something. “
Police did not name the suspects in the shooting, nor did they identify a motive. After Wednesday’s shooting, police provided only a vague description of the man.
