Dale Lilik, a father of six, was hit shortly before midnight on Tuesday on Hillcrest Avenue and Clearbrook Road. The driver did not stay.
The collision left him with a skull fracture and cerebral hemorrhage. He is in an induced coma at Royal Columbian Hospital for most of the week.

Michele said her son underwent a brain scan to check for swelling on Saturday. Doctors began withdrawing him from the medication, although it would take several days for him to wake up from the coma.
