“The declaration is a mutual commitment to invest in regional solutions that improve stability, increase opportunities for safe and orderly migration across the region and combat crime and trafficking in human beings who are victims of desperate people,” Biden said Wednesday, visualizing the agreement. at the America Summit.

As part of the implementation, the Biden administration has announced a number of new commitments and costs related to migration.
According to the White House, the United States will offer 22,500 non-agricultural H-2B visas to Central America and Haiti, commit to resettle 20,000 U.S. refugees in fiscal 2023 and 2024 (a threefold increase this year), increase unification programs for Cubans and Haitians provide an additional $ 25 million for the Migration Crisis Response Program and commit $ 314 million in funding through the State Department and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) for Humanitarian Aid and Refugee Development Aid. vulnerable migrants everywhere in the hemisphere.

Vice President Kamala Harris has been leading the effort since last year, and announced at this week’s summit that her “Call to Action” has led to approximately $ 3.2 billion in private sector investment.

However, Harris will not be present when the migration agreement is revealed. Instead, she traveled to South Carolina to raise funds for the State Democrats.
