President Biden told reporters and Democrat donors Friday that he owns a gun, but that the Second Amendment is not absolute.
Speaking at a Democratic donor event, Biden told the audience that although he owned two rifles, he did not believe the Second Amendment covered all forms of firearms.
Biden also told donors during the fundraising event that the idea of armed school staff was seriously wrong. He cited the rigor of military training as proof that it is not easy to “blow someone’s brain”.

“The idea we will provide – the way to deal with gun safety is to provide teachers with weapons in the classroom?” Biden told the event. “There’s a reason it takes the military so long to train someone. It’s not easy to take a rifle or a gun and blow someone’s brains out.”
In a speech to the nation after last week’s shooting in Uwalde, which involved an AR-15 rifle, Biden called for the restoration of the federal ban on assault weapons which was adopted in 1994 and expired in 2004.
