Biden will keep the abortion decision in the spotlight by meeting with Democratic governors

This is where the message of the Democratic Party comes in. The party will use Biden’s new plea to blast the abortion rights pirate to galvanize its base in the midterm elections.

“This helps us make the case again for why if we get two more pro-choice Democrats in the Senate, we can break this logjam,” Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash.), chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, told The Health 202. “And we’re going to have the support and backing of the president to do it.”

Biden’s remarks were striking because he had previously been wary of changing the chamber’s decades-old rules to push Democratic priorities through a closely divided Senate. But the president has come under fire in recent days from some Democrats and advocates who want him to push boundaries to protect abortion access.
