Bo Rothwell gets life in prison for murdering pregnant wife

A Missouri man will spend the rest of his life in prison for killing his wife, who searched her phone for “what to do if your husband is upset you’re pregnant” before disappearing in 2019.

Beau Rothwell, 31, received a life sentence without the chance of parole for killing his wife, Jennifer Rothwell, who was pregnant at the time, KSDK reported Friday.

“We first issued this case for murder and as stated in the verdict today, we never made any other offers. It was not an option,” St. Louis County District Attorney Wesley Bell said, according to the TV station.

Bell also mentioned how Jennifer Rothwell would never get to hold the child she was six weeks pregnant with at the time of her death.

“We felt this man needed to be held accountable for his actions, and that’s what we intended to do.”

Bo Rothwell was found guilty of first-degree murder and lesser charges earlier this year.

At trial he admitted killing his wife but insisted it was not planned and rather happened during a heated argument about a relationship he had with another woman in the hope of being found guilty of -a minor charge of manslaughter.

He testified that he hit his 28-year-old wife with a hammer in November 2019.

Prosecutors argued that the husband carefully planned, showing text messages between him and another woman in the months leading up to the killing and a list of pros and cons he made about whether he should leave his wife.

He was also seen on camera buying cleaning products the day before Jennifer Rothwell disappeared, police said earlier.

Her body was found badly beaten a week after she was reported missing by Bo Rothwell.

“To Jennifer’s family, words cannot express how sorry I am. This should never have happened,” Beau Rothwell said as the sentencing approached, according to KSDK.
