DETECTIVES launched an investigation after a man and a woman were found dead at an address near Sherborn.
Dorset police received a report at 6:03 a.m. Tuesday, June 28, of the sudden death of a woman in Gifle View, Thornford.
Officers with the ambulance were present and the bodies of a man and a woman – both over the age of 70 – were stationed at the property.
An investigation is under way – led by detectives from the Major Crimes Investigation Team (MCIT) – to establish the full circumstances of both deaths.
The man’s family has been notified. Investigations into finding the woman’s close relatives are still ongoing. The man and woman knew each other. The investigator was also notified.
MCIT Detective Inspector Wayne Seymour said: “This is a very sad incident and we are doing everything we can to support the man’s family.
“Officers are carrying out inspections to find out exactly what happened and a cordon has been set up to inspect the scene.
“Currently, no one else is believed to be involved in the incident and investigations will continue to establish the full circumstances surrounding the death.
“I urge anyone who may have any information to help our investigation to contact the Dorset police.
“There will be an increased police presence in the area and we would encourage everyone to contact local neighborhood police if there are any concerns or information.
