Boris Johnson’s ethics adviser Lord Hyde resigns after a Partygate grill Boris Johnson

Boris Johnson’s ethics adviser, Lord Hyde, has resigned dramatically after lawmakers teased him earlier this week whether the prime minister had violated the ministerial code when he was fined for Partygate.

In a statement, Hyde said: “Unfortunately, I think it is right for him to step down as an independent adviser to ministers.

He is the second independent adviser Johnson has lost. Alex Allen resigned after the prime minister ignored his statement that Priti Patel had harassed government officials.
