A 36-year-old man from Brampton has been charged after a man died in a car crash with seven cars on Highway 400 last summer.
The collision occurred on June 24, 2021, just before 7 am, in North York, south of Finch Avenue West.
According to the police of the province of Ontario, the driver of a loaded transport truck was involved in a chain reaction accident, as several drivers slowed down or stopped their vehicle on the highway.
The build-up caused one of these vehicles to catch fire and catch fire.
A 30-year-old man from Richmond Hill died on the spot, and several others were slightly injured.
Highway 400 was closed for nearly 14 hours as police investigated and crews cleaned up the wreckage.
A secondary collision also occurred on Rutherford Road that morning when drivers turned onto the scene and took the wrong path to get off the highway.

Truck driver Sahil Gai is now charged with criminal negligence causing death and criminal negligence causing bodily harm.
He has since been released on bail.
