Brian Laudry admitted to killing his girlfriend Gabby Petito in a notebook left in Florida, where he committed suicide, but Laudry insisted it was an act of “mercy,” according to a report Friday.
“I ended her life,” he said in a note found by the FBI in October, according to Fox News.
“I thought it was gracious that she wanted that, but now I see all the mistakes I made. I panicked. I was shocked. “
Landry claims he wanted to get Petito – who is said to be engaged – out of her misery after she fell and injured herself in the Wyoming desert, but said he regretted it immediately after killing her.
“From the moment I decided to remove her pain, I knew I couldn’t go on without her,” he wrote.
Fifth, a 22-year-old from Long Island, disappeared while traveling with Laundrie and was found strangled to death at a campsite near Grand Tettens on Sept. 19.
Laundrie disappeared after his death, prompting a national search for the then suspected killer.

Laundry, who died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head in Myakkahatchee Creek Ecological Park near Sarasota, apologized and asked authorities to calm down with his family in the note.
“Please don’t make my family’s life difficult,” he scribbled in his notebook. “They lost a son and a daughter. The most beautiful girl in the world. Gabby, I’m sorry. ” He added: “I am sorry for my family. This is a shock for them too [as] terrible sorrow. “
