Boris Johnson’s plans to unilaterally cancel parts of the Brexit deal are “politically motivated” and “very damaging” to Britain’s relations with the European Union, the vice-president of the European Commission warned.
Maros Shefcovic says the EU is not “here for political points” after Brussels launched a new lawsuit against the United Kingdom in retaliation for the government’s proposed bill for the Northern Ireland Protocol, which will effectively tear key parts of the deal signed by Mr Johnson and the EU in 2019
Mr Shefcovic told Sky News: “I cannot resist the impression that the bill is politically motivated, but it is not our role to comment on domestic policy in the UK and therefore our doors to negotiations will always be open.
