Winnipeg police are investigating the city’s 28th homicide of 2022.
It happened around 5:30 p.m. Friday when the Winnipeg Fire Department (WFPS) received a call about a fire at an apartment building in the 500 block of Burnell Street. When they arrived, they found an injured man and called the police.
Officers arrived to find a man suffering from upper body injuries, but did not say what may have caused them. He was rushed to hospital in critical condition but later died.
Homicide is investigating. No suspects have been arrested. The Winnipeg Police Service’s forensics truck was still at the scene late Saturday afternoon and police tape blocked off the building’s basement entrance
