Calgary police have filed charges against a 16-year-old man after he reported that the young man had tried to hire him to kill someone.
The complainant informed the police on 13 May that a young man had asked them to kill another young man in exchange for payment, the police said in a statement on Wednesday.
After a six-week investigation, police arrested the 16-year-old on Tuesday.
Juveniles cannot be named according to the provisions of the Juvenile Criminal Justice Act.
“This is a very serious and disturbing incident,” said a staff sergeant. Colin Chisholm with the General Investigation Division.
“We are grateful that the police were notified and were able to investigate before anything tragic happened. As a service, our priority is to ensure the public safety of all Calgary residents. “
Charges against the young man include a lawyer for murder, violation of a court order and possession of marijuana.
