Police shoot intruder

The Alberta police watchdog was called after a suspect was shot by officers in Calgary’s northeast Sunday night.
Police were called to a home on Coventry Hills Way NE near Harvest Hills Blvd. N. around 9:45 p.m. for reports of an unknown man with a gun trying to break into the building.
When they arrived, officers said they attempted to de-escalate the situation but were unable to, resulting in two officers discharging their service weapons.
The suspect was immediately treated at the scene and taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
No employees were injured during the incident.
Alberta’s Major Incident Response Team is investigating.
