California man David Hetzline has been arrested for the murder of his mother

A Southern California man killed his mother and dismembered her body before hiding body parts in the garbage can of their apartment complex, authorities said.

David Hotzline, 25, was arrested Friday night at his home in Camarillo after cops found the dismembered body of his 62-year-old mother, Tomoko, hours earlier, the Ventura County Sheriff said.

Cops found the body parts in the garbage can around 6:50 a.m. after receiving a call about “suspicious circumstances” at the Las Positas apartments, cops said.

The sheriff’s deputies received a search warrant for their shared apartment and found “evidence” linking “David to his mother’s murder,” a statement from the sheriff’s office said.

Hoetzlein remains in custody on murder charges instead of bail of $ 3 million.

A neighbor told KLTA that the younger Hotzline had “barricaded” himself in the apartment in an attempt to avoid capture.

“They managed to get him out around 3:30,” Cathy Kennedy told the station.

The alleged killer will appear in court on Tuesday.
