The Naval Security Team arrives at the Swartz Bay Ferry Terminal en route to Kelowna.
The Canadian Forces Maritime Security Team is en route to the Okanagan as they prepare for what’s called defensive navigation and tactical training.
“We are currently towing a flotilla of defense boats with us to train for a possible deployment of assets,” said spokesman Sub-Lieutenant Wilson Ho.
The Naval Security Team transports four defense boats from CFB. Esquimalt to the Kelowna Yacht Club where they will establish a base of operations for their exercises.
The public may see an increased military presence on Okanagan Lake this Tuesday and Wednesday. Ho says the public is encouraged to stop and say hello.
“Members of the public, if they have any questions or are just curious, they are more than welcome to come and have a look.”

The team will also have a cabin at the Yacht Club to recruit new members on Tuesdays and Wednesdays between 3pm and 5pm.
