Carlo Ancelotti responded to Mohamed Salah’s claims that he did not want revenge when Liverpool faced Real Madrid in the Champions League final this weekend.
The Reds face the La Liga giants in Paris on Saturday night, with Salah coming out to avenge the 3-1 defeat his team suffered against Real four years ago. Salah was forced to be injured in the first half after a clash with Sergio Ramos.
And in response to the news that the Reds will face Real in the final, the 29-year-old expressed his excitement at the prospect of being able to take revenge for what happened in 2018.

He said: “I am very excited. Before the match I said that I want to play with Madrid in the final. We lost in [2018] after all, it was a sad day for all of us and I think it’s time for revenge. I’m sure it will be a difficult match. They beat very good teams, so we just have to focus on the game. “
But in response to these allegations on Tuesday, Ancelotti admitted that Real will also want revenge for the defeat that Real suffered against the Reds in Paris 41 years ago.
He said: “It may be motivation, but Madrid also lost the final against Liverpool in Paris [1981]. It could be revenge for us, too. ”
Speaking at the same press conference, Ancelotti also spoke of his admiration for Reds boss Jurgen Klopp for the way he helped change the game.
“These coaches have taken football to a new place, especially with regard to the German school,” said the Italian. “There is more intensity and pressure, more advanced teams.
“I do not think I am of an old generation. I think I am up to date with the changes in football and I will continue to do so. Given the characteristics of the players you have, this is the most important thing. “
