Casper Ruud and Marin Cilic were detained by protesters in the third set of their second semifinal at Roland Garros.

The players were forced to leave in about 10 minutes when a woman ran to the court and tied herself to the net.

The game was interrupted, with Ruud leading 3-6 6-4 4-1 as security guards took up positions and the protester was removed.

The protester walked to the court with relative ease and fastened himself to the net

It took 10 minutes to remove the woman and continue the third set of the semifinals

Ruud later won the match in four sets to retain a place in the final against clay expert Rafael Nadal.

The woman looked like she was protesting against climate change and was wearing a T-shirt that said, “We have 1,028 days left.”

She is believed to belong to a group of activists who oppose France’s “inaction” on climate change.

Her invasion of Court Philip-Shatrie during the third set was completely undeniable, as she clung to the net, calling into question the safety of Roland Garros.

Tournament director Amelie Moresmo witnessed the players leave the court in 10 minutes while the woman was separated.

The incident followed the first semi-final between Alexander Zverev and Nadal, in which the Spaniard won by default, as Zverev suffered a serious injury and was forced to retire.
