A spokesman for Madison Couthorne (RN.C.) called the recently leaked videotape a “blackmail”, saying he would not back down after “hitting me”.
The North Carolina MP tweeted that the video was authentic and said he was joking with a friend.
“A new hit against me has just fallen. Years ago, in this video, I was rude to a friend trying to be funny. We acted stupid and joked, “Kotron wrote in his tweet. “It is.”

It is.
I do not give up.
I told you there would be a drip campaign.
Blackmail will not win. We’ll.

“I do not give up. I told you there would be a drip campaign, “Coutorne tweeted. “Blackmail will not win. We’ll.”
The first-term MP’s comments came after the US Muckrakers PAC, an opposition group campaigning against Cawthorn, said they released the video after receiving it from an anonymous source who said they had previously been a Cawthorn donor.
“Madison Kothorn must resign from Congress today. Although his sexual orientation or behavior behind closed doors is of no interest to us, his actions must have consequences, “said Muckrakers PAC President David B. Wheeler in a statement on the release of the video.
“Ask him out well if he is no longer absorbed in the connection. We do not know these details. We know that Representative Kotorn should not be in Congress, no matter when this video was made. We have no further comments. “
Cawthorn’s response refers to previous comments he made in an Instagram post last month, where he said the “institution” would launch a coordinated “drip campaign” against him.
“They will publish an article about an attack every one or two days, just to try to kill us with 1,000 cuts, and that’s really their main strategy,” the 26-year-old Kotorn said in an Instagram post in April.
The video’s release comes as Cawthorn, who is re-elected to North Carolina’s 11th Congressional District, is dealing with a number of controversies and reprimands from other members of the Republican Congress.

The 26-year-old recently received a backlash from Republicans after saying in a radio interview that lawmakers had invited him to make cocaine and attend orgies. He was also accused by a former congressman of wrongfully denying her medical and family leave and later firing her.
House of Representatives minority leader Kevin McCarthy (California) said Kotorn should “turn around”.
Kothorn, who also recently leaked photos of him wearing lingerie to a party, was quoted last month for trying to carry loaded firearms through security at Charlotte, North Carolina airport.
