The first trailer for the upcoming Marilyn Monroe biopic was released this week, and female lead Ana de Armas bears a striking resemblance to the screen siren.

The 34-year-old actress “disappears” as Marilyn in Netflix’s The Blonde, notes one film critic, while fans claim they “can’t tell her apart” from the Hollywood star.

The trailer shows de Armas recreating key moments from the actress’ career, including a classic scene from the 1953 hit Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.

de Armas, known for her roles in The Gray Man and No Time to Die, is the latest in a long line of high-profile film and television stars to completely transform into a real person for a biopic role.

British actress Lily James recently donned Pamela Anderson’s red swimsuit in the Hulu series Pam & Tommy, while Rami Malek won an Oscar for his role as Freddie Mercury in the Queen film Bohemian Rhapsody.
